Corona virus in Bengaluru: Top 3 tips to stay healthy

It’s been close to 3 weeks now since I first heard about Corona virus, and the way it created an impact in China. Since then, I have been seeing it spread across different countries and there’s no stopping to it. As I write this email, there are about 170 cases reported across India, and about 17 cases reported from Karnataka, and about half of those reported from Bengaluru. While the numbers are way lesser when compared to the population of our country, it’s still a matter of worry as Corona virus can spread from one person to another at a rapid pace. So, what can we do about it?

While the media channels are bombarding you with the number of infected cases and deaths caused due to COVID-19 (Corona virus), lesser has been said about the ways of controlling them. While I sometimes feel that media houses must take the responsibility of educating people rather than generate fear, I cannot find them doing so. So, what’s the best way to control the spread of virus and stay healthy? Let’s take a look at the top 3 steps below, as enough has been said about it across social media, Whats app groups and of course, from random people round us! So, take a deep breath and simply follow the 3 tips below to stay healthy.

Tip 1: Wash your hands using a sanitizer, preferably mixed with alcohol. Once you put the sanitizer on your hand, make sure you rub it thoroughly including your fingers. If you do not have access to a sanitizer, pick up a popular and good quality soap. When using a soap, ensure you rub the foam on your hands for at least 20 seconds for better results.

Tip 2: Avoid getting close to people, be it your friends, relatives, colleagues or anyone you meet on the road or at a nearby shop. The reason is, you never know who has the virus, and it’s better to be safe than worrying later. When i say avoid getting close, keep a distance of about 4 to 6 feet. Of course, this is not possible all the time but as the situation demands, do your best to maintain the distance.

Tip 3: This is one of the most important tip and I can guarantee you that if you do not follow this tip, there’s isn’t much of a use even if you follow the above 2 tips. So, the tip is – Go ahead and talk to your best friend over the phone, get yourself immersed in learning a new language, get down and exercise in your room, watch a comedy movie, do some meditation, crack a few jokes, and eat some lip-smacking healthy and hot food! To summarise, engage your mind with “non-corona” news. Trust me, this will help you a lot and will ensure your mind does not take a hit due to social distancing.
